Nick Deutsch was born in Israel in 1972. At the age of 13 he began studying full-time at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (Australia), later he studied at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne with Prof. Anne Gilby, where he graduated and received the “Gwen Nisbet” Prize for the most outstanding student in 1993. A scholarship enabled him to further study with Prof. Diethelm Jonas at the State University of Music in Trossingen.

As a solo oboist, he worked with world-famous conductors such as Zubin Mehta, James Levine, Kurt Masur, Lorin Maazel, Gustavo Dudamel, Semyon Bychkov, Ivan Fischer and numerous orchestras and ensembles, among others. the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Munich Philharmonic, the German Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt, Cologne, Stuttgart, Berlin and Munich Radio Symphony Orchestras. He also played with the Camerata Salzburg, the German Chamber Philharmonic Bremen, the Bach Kollegium Stuttgart, the Polish Chamber Philharmonic, the Real Filharmonia de Galicia (Spain) and the Munich Chamber Orchestra. He also appeared in the opera houses in Munich, Berlin, Dresden, Hamburg, Cologne, Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Bayreuth, Stuttgart, Oslo and Tel Aviv. He regularly performs concerts with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

From 2003 to 2010, Nick Deutsch was principal oboist of the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra, and from 2004 to 2012 he was a member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra.

Nick Deutsch has performed at international music festivals, including: at the Salzburg Festival, Edinburgh International Festival, BBC Proms, La Folle Journèe di Nantes, Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Rheingau Music Festival, Prague Spring, Bachwoche Ansbach, the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival, Schwetzinger Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Hitzacker Music Days , Weilburg Castle Concerts, Stuttgart Music Festival, Darmstadt Summer Courses, Munich Biennale, Walled City Festival (Derry – Northern Ireland), Pacific Music Festival (Japan), Tongyoeng International Music Festival (Korea), Meli Mehta Music Foundation Festival (Mumbai), Musica Compostela (Spain ), Felicia Blumenthal International Music Festival (Tel Aviv), Sydney Festival (Australia).

As a sought-after chamber music partner, Nick Deutsch is a founding member of the “Hindemith Quintet” (Frankfurt) and performs with the “Ensemble Modern”, the “Linos Ensemble” and Andras Schiff’s “Capella Andrea Barca”.

In addition to his busy concert activities, Nick Deutsch has also held a professorship since 2004: from 2004 to 2010 he taught at the University of Music in Mainz, and in 2010 he was appointed professor of oboe at the University of Music in Leipzig.
